Coin Collector Finds $250,000+ Ike Dollar Prototype & Sells At Auction: The First Eisenhower Dollar

Talk about a true rarity! A coin collector and dealer cherrypicked this Eisenhower Dollar for $10 at a coin show in 2008, and after a long process of authentication, research, conservation, and more, finally sold at a 2022 Heritage Auctions sale about a week ago. There have been two more discovered since – all purchased for less than $25 – reminding us that a sharp eye and a little (lot of) luck can lead to some staggering payouts in the coin collecting hobby. This is one of the first Ike Dollars ever to have been made… learn all about it in this video that I am so excited to feature.

  1. Just like the 1933 Double Gold Eagle that went for just under $19 million. It’s not the coin but the story behind it that sells the coin.
