    1. I followed you on instagram. And i also have a question. Out of all of the coins you have seen what coin is your faverote and what coin was your greatest find?

    2. RobFindsTreasure I would try to split those into 2 days, but knowing myself I would just rip through them in one sitting lol

    3. ok so what was the value of the old/rare coins from this haul? was it worth buying all these pennies? what will you do with the rest of the pennies?

    1. I’m in the same boat.. No clue how I jumped down this rabbit hole.. How much could these suckers be worth?? They’re pennies….

    2. Same here. I was watching Magic The Gathering Investments and I ended up here somehow. Youtube effect. Do what you love.

    3. Ya why are we here right now??? But it’s crazy come of these dates. Makes me think of the gas station scene in no country for old men. These coins traveled years to get to the point of us seeing them on YouTube.

  2. Legend has it that this video only appears at 3am just when you are wondering what you are doing with your life

    1. Saturdy 10am been up since 6 watching woodworking, storage pirates and out of the blue THIS, ah what the heck. I’ve got 7 lbs of pre-1982 pennies in a jar. Think I’ll make a video and get bank on the YT.

  3. I truly admire this man’s happiness. Sir, your enthusiasm is infectious and I was on the edge of my seat for the whole 24 minutes.

    1. @Jimdus It takes awhile to really learn this sort of thing. Two of the same coin with one heavily circulated is $20. The other a MS-65 (70 is perfect) might be $20,000. (Yeah, YT will stalk us!)

  4. Love this channel! Got my first penny box in ten years today… first 2 rolls in, decent copper and a 1952D wheatie already.
Thanks for reminding me how much I’ve always enjoyed this!

    Results:
    About 250 coppers
    one Roosevelt dime
    One Canadian (1981)
    3 1959D first year Lincoln
8 wheaties, including a 1917S (32M minted), a 1919, and a 1955D that I need to recheck – the obverse wear is much less than the reverse and I want to give it a microscope look just in case.

  5. I use to do this as a teenager back in the 1970s. At one time, I had every penny all the way back to 1857. Yes, it included the 1877 Indian head penny and the 1909s vdb. It also helped that my sister worked at a savings and loan and would be on the look out for me. Later on I purchased the 1955 dd in ms64 condition. It’s the only penny I still own and will probably never sell it. My friends couldn’t figure out why I was always broke. I was always saving for the next coin that I couldn’t find.

  6. So saw this video pop up on the list and I believe I clicked it because I like to watch treasure hunting. Not much of a coin collector at all but decided to watch. I have to say, I thought the video was very well done with only one correction. Presentation was really great and you project confidence in your hobby which makes me believe you know your stuff. Even someone of my very limited experience was able to keep up with the lingo. Very well done sir!

  7. I’m from England. I have zero interest in US money, I have even less interest in 1 cent coins.
I’ve just spent 24 minutes of my life watching a video about them & I’m not even mad about it !!

Got to love your enthusiasm Rob !

    1. USA money is more valueable i hope you know cause we have super old coins and they invented the money cause the colonys needed money to buy stuff.

    2. @Green Lawn Farm “Super old”?

      😂😂😂😂

I’m from England mate, your oldest stuff is brand new to us!

    3. @Green Lawn Farm You are a pretty good stand up comic.

You are aware of what the 4th of July means to *you* ?

    4. I learned about that in history class. They dumped the tea off the boats at the harbor and that got them mad so they went to Philly and signed the Constitition and it said that europe cant take any more money from USA. And we invented cannons and guns so they came and tried to take the money but they left. I forget why but thats basically what it was.

  8. I never would have thought watching a guy sort through thousands of pennies would be so fun. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I am temped to go to the bank and get a few boxes of pennies. The only problem is what to do with all the cull that has to go back to the bank.

  9. I’m almost 68 years old now, and this takes me back to my teen years, when, several times a week, I’d get a $50 bag of pennies from the bank and rip through them with the hawk eyes of a very young man. Naturally, back in the sixties I was finding occasional Indian heads and tons of really interesting older Lincolns. Sometimes in excellent, lustrous condition. (There was no PCGS back then, of course!) I grew up in Philly, so “S” pennies were the Big Find for me. Never got the S-VDB or the 14-D, but I did find just about everything else. Even a Flying Eagle or two. And then there were the bags of nickels and dimes and quarters. Same basic story. Anyway, you have to appreciate this collector’s raw and infectious enthusiasm, his knowledge, his methodology, and his savvy editing. So, what’s a person’s time worth? Professionally, quite a lot. But this isn’t a profession. It’s a hobby. And hobbies can coax the obsessive from us. Friends, this isn’t about making money, per se, it’s not about an hourly rate. It’s about something far more sublime: IT’S ABOUT THE THRILL OF THE HUNT! Thank you, buddy, for bringing it all back to me. A priceless 24 minutes. May you find your copper ’43.

    1. Right. The war years were steel pennies. Remember the blue books that you would try to fill!! 1951!!!!

    2. Which my mother told me about in ’61 when I was five. I’ve been looking for a Copper ’43 for the past fifty-eight years.

    3. Hey Bruce, I’m your age and I helped a friend clean out his mom’s house. Her boyfriend was a coin collector/coin dealer/hoarder. Basement filled with everything and a TON of coins. Anyway, I got all the pennies for helping…….. you…. can’t…. imagine: 5,000 Indian Heads. Hundreds of rolls of wheaties, 27 partial sets of book one of the Lincolns…. and… in … a book…. stuck with all the others…… a 1909 S VDB. amazing value, but for an old pennie collector, just a stunning moment

    4. No doubt. I am a 52yo woman but I totally got into coin collecting when I was a kid. In the late 70s/early 80s there were still rich pickings in rolls from the bank.
The big thing for me was finding the steel pennies. My grandparents had change buckets dating back to the early 1900s. That was like an archaeological dig.
I was not an extremely knowledgeable collector as far as pennies. I just went through and picked out the indian heads, wheats, the steels and whatever stuck out as unusual. I did find a penny that was only struck on about 1/3 of it. It was bent from the striking process and everything. Biggest error coin I have ever seen. Anyways, yes, hours spent hunting for something unusual.
Unfortunately, very few kids are into that kind of thing now. I have a bunch of proof sets I purchased in the early 80s. I assumed their values would go up but they didn’t. Values crashed because so few people are into coins now.

  10. You know it’s time for bed when after the guy finds the 1917 penny you say “sweet” under your breathe real slow.

  11. Even while I was watching I realized it was bizarre but I keep watching. I think it is his enthusiasm, knowledge and equipment for finding something valuable that sucks you in. I don’t think I would search out another one but I enjoyed it.

  12. I never realized how coin collecting was so much like opening packs of baseball cards hoping for a rookie or a special edition….

  13. This shows the power of passion and doing what you love. On the surface this should be beyond boring, but his passion somehow made this entertaining.

  14. Pennies were great to collect as a kid. I remember self grading my modest collection, and even at my young age, perhaps 12?, understanding that I was too subjective to give an accurate assessment.

This makes me want to go through my jar of pennies…and it’s not so easy. The pennies do not orient themselves ‘wheaties up’ so it is time consuming…

  15. I worked retail in the 90s and to stay sane, I’d look for old coins and notes. I Found quite a bit. It’s interesting how one can spot a wheatie just by the slight variation in tone. I collected coins at an early age and am still interested. Love videos like yours. Thanks.

  16. I have no clue about coin hunting or how good any of the coins you found are but I’m happy that you seem happy. Keep up the good work!

  17. I really enjoy watching penny hunts… I learn so much! Thanks Rob!👍😃👍
