Do Auction Houses Want Consignments?? Thinking Through The Pros & Cons of Receiving Items To Sell

I've been thinking about how auction firms and more generally coin firms view consignments – there are definitely some advantages to taking things in a consignment format, but I can also see the significant appeal in just buying items outright… the question is always what is best for both parties involved. From not having to tie up any capital to being able to source fascinating and interesting material genuinely sourced from collections, there are some really interesting takeaways from a positive and negative perspective involved in this process.

  1. How much work do they actually do if they sell 1 coin for 1 million dollars , do they deserve $200K-$300K . I know that’s a rare example 😂

    1. I would say a common range would be $50K-$200K. But they might be delivering $200K-$800K in value, so it’s pretty fair!

  2. If it was easy doing what you do everyone would be doing it , it must take a long time to build a reputation where people fully trust you . Keep those secrets close to your chest . Knowledge is power 👍
