As I go through several full bank rolls of 2017-D nickels, I thought it would be a good time to explore the possibilities of searching for valuable treasures among a see of BU condition coins. Registry set collectors are paying more money than they probably deserve, for extreme high end examples of these modern coins. What are some of the things you must know when you're going through these by the roll?

    1. Brandon Kelly At this point I have probably a few hundred “P” pennies and only a couple D minted ones. And I only keep the ones that are in outstanding condition . I’ve put quite a few back into circulation. As a side note I’ve been searching literally $$ thousands of dollars in Halves, Quarters, Dimes and Nickels for 2009 year coins. Surprisingly few out there. Of all those denominations I’ve probably found less than 10 coins.

    2. Domo I’m here in pa and have yet to see a D penny lol I do see a ton of 2017 P’s. might have saw a couple 2017 D’s. Its like when I’m hoping to see a 1969 S penny and don’t see to many cuz I live in pa. I rarely come across a 69 S.

  1. I still can’t find any 2009’s.I just got home from bartending, got a 1964 quarter and a 40% silver bicentennial quarter. I wish the Mint would go back to the older Jefferson head design.

    1. JRW3 I’ve worked as a cashier for the past 2 years and I open MANY rolls daily and I have yet to find a single 2009 nickel I find plenty of wheat cents and the occasional silver dime but no 2009 nickels it can definitely be a struggle lol

  2. Nice job, getting new info to us BlueRidge. Gives me a whole new outlook with all those modern 2000 era coins we sort through! Thanks again.

  3. My bank doesn’t give out uncirculated coins. I gave them $10 yesterday to get $4 in nickels a $5 roll of dimes and a $1 in pennies but all were circulated. I’ll have to try my other bank. 🙂

  4. can you please tell me how I could send you some pictures of some 1970s 72 s 1957 D a 1948 s a 1971 s and the 1957 I’d like they’re beautiful if you could see

  5. I have a 2005 P Liberty with a buffalo on the reverse. The buffalo has a gold tint and in general the rest of the reverse is slightly gold tinted. Could this be caused by a previous run of some kind? I can send it to you if you like or just send a picture of it. Thx…

  6. BlueRidgeSilverhound is like the movie guy , the professional ! Protecting our coins . And you never seen em ! Good job .

  7. Bought all 2017 mint coin sets (D, S and P) when I heard that 2017 would be only year for 2017 P.

  8. Hello BRSH, have you heard of anything about cud errors on the 2017P nickel on the obverse side?
